Why this must be read:
The tight bond between Mal and Zoe is the basis for one of the most appealing relationships in Firefly. The ability of two very strong individuals to live and work as friends and comrades-in-arms is compelling emotionally and dramatically. Zoe's strength (of character, will, and body) make her one of my favorite fictional female characters, and in this short piece you get to see the dynamic up close during a stressful experience.
