- She knows maternal instinct, and it comes naturally to her for Serenity. So she works, stays up late so that she can take apart the power junctions for the mess when nobody will need them, carefully clean every part because she can't replace them but she can keep them clean, she can do something to keep *these* in working order, safe and well and thrumming with life. She crawls through access panels that are really too small for her, finds things that were never really meant to be accessed. They're meant to last the life of the ship. They're meant to endure.
She's determined to make them last even longer. Make Serenity last longer. It's not much, but maybe she can make it be enough.
