This fic just about broke my heart. The Firefly ‘verse was a mean one: dirty, and hard, both physically and emotionally. That doesn’t always come through in Firefly fics--and considering how difficult it is to see these characters suffering, that may well be for the best--but it’s something that I need to be reminded of, every now and then.
