Why this must be read:
I have to admit to a kind of fascination with hurt!fic. I'm not entirely sure what that's all about and don't really feel the need to delve into my psyche to explain it. There's just something about them. Martha, I've noticed, does an excellent, excellent job with the hurt fic, with the balance between biting the bullet, being the macho guy and screaming because it really, really hurts. It definitely doesn't hurt that she does an awesome job of world/culture building in this fic, providing an excellent backdrop for a poor, hurt little Daniel.
