Unsaid by Katy Zapatka (PG13)
Fandom: QAF US
Pairing: Michael/David
Author on LJ:
Author Website: Beyond Good & Evil
Why this must be read: I seem to be one fo the few that liked David Cameron and that because of bad writing (and Chris Potter's insistence of leaving the show), he was made to become more and more of an asshole than he needed to be.
The flaw inherent in the relationship between David and Michael was the fact that they were polar opposites. In age, status, finances...oh, the list is long and ever so dysfunctional. And that's what this fic is all about: the love, the anger, the dysfunction, the pain of Michael's first love (well, if you don't count Brian). What I like about this is how Katy inhabits the character of Michael - his passive-aggressiveness, his whininess, his naivete, his loving nature - and makes him breathe, albeit a litle bit more bitterly. And what makes this fic more than your usual fic is how it's written. It is unusual, inventive and wonderfully done. There's a reason why its title is...
Unsaid
P.S. Just to warn you, this was written without the benefit of Season 2, so it assumes that Michael never went to Portland to be with David. And watch out for the last line, it's a killer.
