Why you MUST read this story: I love JC/Lance, but in this way that makes me super crazy picky about it to the point that I can read like, five JC/Lance stories ever. I definitely like it on the dysfunctional side. But still with some sweetness. Mostly, complicated. And steph has a way of capturing the pairing that is soap-bubble fragile and completely entrancing. Her writing manages to be both vague and extremely evocative. Her characters are clearly drawn with deceptively simple character notes, the imagery is consistently surprising and lovely and the way she engages the senses is brilliant. This is a short piece, but a joy to read and one I come back to time and time again.
