Why this must be read:
Set post-Season Two, this is a stark, sparse look at what Sark's imprisionment might have been like. He's been told by Irina that she will extract him, but as the weeks go by he begins to realize that no one is coming and he must find a way to outwit the CIA and escape. This is one of my favorite characterizations of Sark ever because as his desperation grows, we begin to see hints of the man underneath the icy facade. The flashbacks to his relationship with Irina only serve to solidify that hint of humanity. A truly outstanding story.
