Hope for the Uruk by Grond (R)
Fandom: Lord of the Rings
Pairing: Shagrat/male [identity would be spoiler]
Author on LJ: No
Author's Website: None
Why this must be read:
For the end of my brief stint behind the wheel, it's back to the enemies theme. The question of whether & how orcs might be redeemed within Tolkien's universe is one that's attracted a number of authors over the past year or so, and my favourite among the resulting stories is 'Hope for the Uruk'. It generated a lot of controversy when it came out, but in my opinion it's one of the most thoughtful & unusual stories in the fandom. For those who care about such things, the sex is surprisingly hot, too!
Not for the punctuation police: the speech punctuation'll drive you crazy, but highly recommended for any other slash-friendly reader.
