Why this must be read:
I've been reccing some pretty unconventional pairings so far, so I thought it would be time to point y'all towards a story with a canon...
...wait, what do you mean Buffy/Faith isn't canon?

m_phoenix's story, they certainly could be. Set in season seven, "Zen and the Art of Stake Maintenance" pulls no punches as far as Buffy and Faith's past enmity goes. These two characters have been archnemeses and they have been allies, but they've always been rivals, and the biggest reason for that is the fact that they refuse to talk to each other. They're both left hating an idea of the person they wish they could be, even when they've run out of reasons to hate.
Cutting, cruel, and aching for missed opportunities, "Zen and the Art of Stake Maintenance" is a look at a conversation that so easily could have been.
