Why this must be read:
From the very first conversation between Natalie, Dan, and Casey this reads like an episode from the series. Upon the initial reading though, it's a wonderful example of the deep friendship between Dan and Casey. The author nails the characters - not only their voices, but their actions and all those things that make them great (i.e. Casey's inability to see things that are right in front of his face, Dan's battle to be it for someone, sometimes everyone).
It's very hard to believe that this was the first story in this fandom by the author because it nails everything.
"You knew?" Dan's voice was shaky, broken.
"No. Not until tonight."
"You didn't have to come over."
"Of course I did. You're my best friend."
"You don't hate me?"
"For what? For getting your heart broken?"
"No, for…for who broke it."
"No," Casey whispered. "No, I already knew that part, Danny."
