Why this must be read:
Sary's "Wednesday Night Rants" is the home of many, many wonderful post-episode pieces of fiction. I encourage people to check out the site and look through the fics; if you ever wanted to know what might have come next after an episode, this is the place to go.
There were quite a few fics I could have chosen to rec from this site (and this doesn't rule me out from doing so in the future :)), but I chose Absolutely Beautiful because I think that when The West Wing is at its best is when it is an ensemble show. We all have favorite characters or favorite storylines or favorite moments, but when the show really clicks and hums is when all of the characters, at some point, get part and parcel and a voice.
This piece of fic understands that about the show, and duplicates that in its own way. Post-"Galileo" fic, this story goes through the point of view of almost all the major characters in that ep, from C.J. to Josh to Toby to Charlie to Sam to Donna, etc., and does so magnificently, effortlessly, and seamlessly. We get to hear everyone here, and it's just beautifully done.
