Back in the halcyon days of Sorkin's West Wing, there was a mailing list on Yahoo known as 'The State of the Union'. It was *the* place for smut, and I spent many a happy hour trawling through posts looking for what was good and juicy from the computers of fans across the globe. The two fantastic individuals who ran that list set some extremely popular challenges, which always seemed to bring out the best in the writers who participated. They also wrote some damn good fic.

'Campaign Promises' was a major WIP, which was finally finished in January of last year, and is (as far as I'm concerned) one of the best pieces of pre-Admin fiction in existence. To truly understand the complexities of Josh and Donna you need to grasp the relationship they had before they made it to the White House, and this story gives you a fabulous possible version of events, plus some smut for good measure...

I'm pretty certain the List has passed into the realms of history (though both List Mommas are still writing in other fandoms) but the fic remains, and is worth more than a passing glance. Expect more recs from this pair as the month goes on.
