Big Damn Zombies, Sir by Shrift (PG-13)
Fandom: Firefly
Pairing: none
Author`s LJ:
shrift
Author website: http://bifictionalbedlam.slashcity.net/shrift/index.html
Why this must be read:
This story is not only the flat-out funniest story I've read in this fandom (one of the funniest fanfiction stories I've read, period, but also carries the honor of being one with some of the best characterization around. It's all the more astonishing given the ensemble nature of the story -- Shrift covers nearly all of the large regular cast in turn, capturing each of their voices and the tone of the show with lovely fidelity. I don't know how anyone can reach the end and not think this is exactly how the Serenity crew would handle Jayne turning into a zombie.
Plus, how can you resist a story with its own theme song?
