Why this must be read: Today's recs are all about the sex. "Don't Move" was written for
yuletide 2004, so it's a recent story, by an author who hasn't written in this fandom before as far as I can tell. But, by gosh, you wouldn't know it by reading the story...
"Don't Move" is well-written, hot and sweet, with a side-serve of impossible love. Yum.
Clearly, those are reasons enough to like this fic. But wait, there's more!
One of my pet hates when it comes to slash, is the casual vilification of female characters. Admittedly, they are often pretty lame in the source material, especially in some of the older shows. But to my mind that's no excuse to turn them into Evil Bitches, as a quick, easy shortcut to scaring the menfolk into each other's arms. That's just lazy writing! /minirant.
What I especially like about "Don't Move" is that while Sheba is a main character, she's just Sheba: A Competent and Compassionate Warrior, rather than Sheba: a Horrible Bitch; or a Manipulative Cow; or, my least favourite of all, an Unsympathetic Gold-Digger After Apollo For His Status. So if you also like your women less on the Dark Side of the Slash, you will revel in this story.
