Why this must be read:
This one is a series of eight supposedly unconnected Vecchio vignettes. Each one is wonderful in its own right. (My favorites are 1, 3, 6, and 8.)
Pares is really good at establishing a lot with few words, so that each short story feels fully formed and realized. She has a fabulous grasp of Vecchio, and, even better, every other character that makes an appearance is spot on.
A must read for any Vecchio fan. And hey, if you’re not a fan, read it anyway. You just might be by the end.
