"Swingers," by Emily Brunson (NC-17)

Fandom: SPORTS NIGHT
Pairing: Dan Rydell/Casey McCall/Jeremy Goodwin
Author on LJ: Not as far as I know, but this version of Emland is her blog.
Author Website: Emland
Why this must be read: Although all of Em's Sports Night fics are good, some of the most memorable images I've ever come across in fanfic were in this story. It's a complete PWP, but the set-up is unusual and a bit surreal, there are a lot of very humorous moments, and the dialogue is excellent. The first person narrative works really well and doesn't get clunky or in the way. The consistent inclusion of realistic details makes for a surprisingly easy-to-visualize tale. Also, the fic is wickedly sexy.

Jeremy doesn't get a lot of slash action in the SN fandom, and the underlying theme of "Swingers" still says Dan and Casey are meant-to-be. I'll freely admit that I (as well as seemingly the majority of SN slashers) have a strong preference for that latter pairing. However, the three of them together here make for some really, really hot -- and, often at the same time, funny and sweet -- scenes. For evidence, I submit the following small excerpt.

"Shit," Jeremy said very distinctly. And then he pronounced some words that my Yiddish grandfather only used when he was really, really pissed off, and grunted, and, I can only assume, came quite well.

My knees felt very strange. Oh my God, Casey is sucking him off, he's eating that...

In "Swingers," Casey is by turns shy and seductive, Danny is honest and overwhelmed, and Jeremy is oddly matter-of-fact even in such a new situation. Casey and Dan change in the course of the story; Jeremy simply manages to show more of himself than we've had the privilege of seeing before. So while, as I said, Dan and Casey are the ones who are shown to have a future together, the view presented of Jeremy really draws well-deserved attention, too. And "Swingers" presents multiple appealing, interesting views of all three guys. ;-)
