"Socks" by Crystal Wimmer (PG)
Fandom: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA 2003
Pairing: Kara/Lee
Author on LJ: None
Author Website: Author Entry at BSG03 Archive
Why this must be read: Crystal Wimmer is, possibly, the most prolific BSG03 author to date. Her specialty is for long, involved, traditional romances about Kara and Lee. "Socks" is her best short story, and a good example of her style...
You may remember that a few days ago I stated my goals for reccing BSG, which were to:
1) rec my favourite stories/authors; and
2) give a representative cross-section of the types of stories common to this fandom.
While I don't want to damn Crystal Wimmer with faint praise, I feel I should admit right up front that I'm recommending her largely due to my second goal. This is not to say Crystal is a bad writer. Far from it. Her work is competently written and highly readable.
The only reason I'm not a bigger fan is because I'm not fond of traditional romances. If, however, you vibe on them (and I know many people do), then Crystal is a writer you'll enjoy very much. Her "Original Continuity" series, in particular, is well worth a look.
I've chosen to recommend "Socks" because it's short, but still a fair sample of Crystal's writing style. Have a taste and see if you like it.

It's reassuring to know the rec came off as positive and respectful.
