"The Revenant Series" by Anna Orr (NC-17)

Fandom: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA 1978
Pairing: Starbuck/Apollo
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] annaorr
Author Website: Apollolover
Why this must be read: I've decided to finish off my BSG78 recs with an old, well-read and much-loved favourite...

The other stories I've chosen to recommend by Anna were picked with an eye to representing the fandom, and showcasing her diversity as a writer. However, one of my all-time favourite stories of Anna's is "The Revenant Series."

The premise of this series is fantastic (and I mean that in both senses of the word): imagine if someone you loved more than life returned from the dead. This is Anna's jumping off point in this long, plotty, angsty (very, very angsty), dark, Alternate Universe epic. I can't express to you how entertaining and satisfying I found this story, so I won't even try.

"The Revenant Series" is made up of an introductory short story and a pair of novels, so make sure you have a whole weekend ahead of you before you start to read this one.

While I wouldn't call this a death fic, it might be considered so by some people; it's also an AU.

(My links go through to the first chapter of each episode. Click on the links at the bottom of each page to move onto the next chapter.)

A Fond Farewell A prequel and *death* fic, co-authored with HeidiM.

Yeah, this is one of my favourites in this fandom, too. :-)

Thank you for all your recs this past month. I have always enjoyed BSG but never looked at the fic side. This has been so much fun, and the stories, some of them fantastic. The Revenant series I finished reading the other day, and I was so amazed by the detail to plot and the universe she has created. I also loved the Shield series and am sort of hoping there will be a third part one day just so we will see how the boys meet again.
Thank you so much!

Ditto on everything ts5000 just said above! Thanks so much for all these great recs. You have great taste! I, too, had never read that much in this fandom, but I have thoroughly enjoyed everything you've recommended, especially the Josephine Darcy story and the Revenant series. After being blown *away* by Revenant and Masquerade, I went to Anna's stories page to gobble up the rest. Good lord, she's a fine writer! Amazing plotting and characterization, truly unpredictable stories, and so many of them really *unique* from each other. She's able to create a whole universe in a series, then drop it entirely, start a new series, and create an completely *different* whole new universe in that one. I was just heartbroken when I'd gone through all her stuff, and there was no for of her for me to read. {g}

Anyway, thanks again! You've really opened me up to a whole new fandom, and what's more fun than that for a fangirl like me? ;)

Cheers!
Wa

Just throwing this out there in case someone might be interested. Here's a link to the new site where these fic can be found. Some of us are still wandering around and enjoying older fandoms.
