Why this must be read:
I have a special attachment to this fic and thus am thrilled to get to rec it.
Cofax writes beautiful, clean prose, rich stories filled with intricate plot and finely developed characters. She's sharp, smart, merciless and insightful and I'd follow her work anywhere. This piece is, not so much a departure from the norm for her, as it is an aperitif, a preparation for her other fic. This is not to say it isn't completely realized in of itself, because it is. It's a moment of luxury, of peace for two people who don't get much of said peace. It's sexy and lush and warm, makes you sweat just a little, and if you can finish reading it without a wistful, longing smile on your face, well, you've got less imagination and clearly more will power than I do. The atmosphere is spot on, buzzy and sultry and sexy. Yeah, I already said sexy, but it's a story that's foreplay for both the characters and the readers, and it becomes even more poignant when taken in context of the timeline, of who these characters are and what's in front of them.
