"It Was The Dress That Did It" by Jaq (PG-13)
First of all, hi! I'm Jem and I'm very excited to be your driver for Lotrips this month. I hope we can have a fun and nice trip. :-) And now that that's out of the way, let's get down to business.
Fandom: LOTRIPS
Pairing: Dominic Monaghan/Richard Taylor/Elijah Wood
Author on LJ:
lazlet
Author Website: Negative Ions
Why this must be read:
So many many reasons... First of all, in this fandom where the manly men and the hobbits-n-orli are the most written and read characters, it is nice once in a while to find a fic which introduces one of the less often written about members of the cast or crew of Lord of the Rings. Richard Taylor is definitely too rare a character in this fandom of ours. Jaq brings him into her fic in a way that makes it even more enjoyable.
The fic is primarily about Dom. Dom's admitted obsession with Richard, and Dom's less realized feelings for another member of the fellowship. The story is lovely and wistful, with a slow build-up to a resolution that leaves the door open to a lot more, which is often what I love the most about any fic. I like fics that don't throw us into the middle of a steamy sexy relationship right away but rather build us up to a long awaited... something. In this case, a "something" that might be the end as well as the beginning of something else... but I'm revealing too much. I'm very bad at that telling you why you should read it thing, aren't I?
Then why not just take my word for it and go read it for yourself? ;-)
It Was The Dress That Did It
E.T.A.: I just realized that Richard Taylor was not included in on the LOTRIPS overview so I thought I'd add a little something about who he is. If I trust imdb.com (because my own memory isn't always really precise when it comes to details) Richard Taylor was/is the president of WETA workshops, responsible for the special effects and makeup on the Lord of the Rings trilogy. We owe him elves and orcs and armours and hobbit feet and a lot more. He's a quirky passionate man who's also very funny and quite loveable (at least from interviews and DVD special features, lol). For those who might not know what he looks like, here's also some visual aid.

*goes off to ponder the morality of RPS some more*

Very well written, a little bittersweet, and I had a very good moment reading it. Thank you!

Yep, Richard is in RPS too. :-) And well, I was similarly burnt when I met someone I'd read about in fics a lot. But oh well, as long as we all know it's all fiction... :-)
