Why this must be read:
The One Ring To Rule Them All Challenge produced some wonderful stories back in the day. This particular one, to me, has always stood out: it’s a tale of what might have been, of what desperation and duty will do to someone. It’s a story told within a story, and the prose and style flow smoothly.; you can almost feel the fire crackling and the cold seeping into your bones.
What if Eowyn had acquired the Ring? What would’ve become of the world?
A little excerpt:
How many times have I told you? The only witches left in Middle- Earth have no power except malice. We Women never call Her the Witch-queen of Rohan. That is Men's name for Her, and we have no part of it. To us She has always been the Queen of the Mark, child of kings, the maiden who rides at the head of the White Ladies of Rohan. Two hundred years since She first beheld the Ring -- now few remember She was more than a lovesick girl turned to witch for the love of King Elessar.
