Why this must be read:
I don't tend to favor threesomes in fanfic, mainly because I look for more character development, and most threesomes strike me as extended PWPs--pretty to imagine, but not very satisfying for me. To enjoy a threesome story, I have to think that the three individuals in the story could conceivably have that sort of relationship. I usually feel that there's a lack of balance or no serious attempt to explain why there are three people in a relationship and how it's going to work realistically outside of bed. Having the dynamic be all about power also doesn't work for me.

However, this story, Saturation, makes sense to me as a future story in which Giles and Xander take in a human Spike and realize over time that they have feelings for him. I enjoyed it from beginning to end, and it sated my desire for more of the BtVS characters' stories after the events of season 7.

Saturation is the first part of a series and is complete in itself. The second part, Pervasion, is finished. Those who like BDSM (of the D/s and spanking sort) will enjoy the continuation. (Saturation doesn't have that element.) I'm not a fan of the genre myself, although I think there's a good reason for that development in the series, and it's handled well.
