Wisdom and Beauty by Macedon (NC-17)
Title: Wisdom and Beauty
Fandom: Star TreK (this fic actually has no 'canon pairings' but the events take place during the Dominion War)
Pairing: OC/OC with mentions of Sarek/Amanda
Author on LJ: not that I know of
Author Website: Macedon's Taberna
Why this must be read:
Ordinarily I wouldn't think of reccing a story that hasn't a single canon character appearing in it - they're mentioned but they never appear - but then I read this when a friend pointed it out and...I honestly think not reccing this story would be a crime. It's just absolutely incredible and finding one this good so engrossing...
I don't think I've ever sat down and read a fic like this one and been so absorbed to the point that I literally forgot this wasn't a novel that this wasn't canon. It's just...Breath taking. The story does definitely earn it's NC-17 rating as there is a graphic (but tastefully done) scene of sexual violence. It's not a story for everyone but it is a powerful and beautiful story that is definitely not to be overlooked lightly.
It is a story of a Vulcan/Human bonding in the 24th century and the details and richness of the story. Vulcan comes alive. The society, the planet, the people. They are irrevocably threaded through this story in a masterful way and if there was ever a piece of Star Trek fanfiction that deserves a rec.
This is is.
Take it from a huge Vulcan geek, if I got this absorbed by it? Wow.
