Revenge in Seacouver by Anatala (NC-17)

Fandom: HIGHLANDER
Pairing: Duncan/Methos
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: Anatala's Fiction

Why this must be read: Because futuristic fiction in Highlander is so hard to find and good futuristic fiction is even rarer.

In this story, it is seventy years in the future, the Gathering has come and gone (only a few Immortals remain) and Duncan is a police detective in Seacouver. When he is called in to investigate a series of murders at various local hotels, he meets the owner of the hotels, who is none other than Methos. The Methos, he thought had died so many years ago in the latter days of the Gathering.

As they struggle to rebuild their friendship after such a long time apart, they are drawn into a twisted plot of murder, deceit, betrayal and hidden secrets. Working together, they seek out the killer.

A truly engrossing read, that like any good murder mystery leaves you guessing until the end who the killer is -- only this mystery has dashes of hot Duncan/Methos to keep you entertained also.

This story sounds interesting but the link doesn't work. Site link doesn't appear valid either. Is this archived somewhere else?

It worked for me.

The prose didn't -- the exposition for each new character was surprisingly clunky -- but the link did.

Actually, I will have to disagree here. While Highlander isn't my fandom of choice, I read this recommendation because it said murder mystery in the post and I love a good murder mystery.

I thought the original characters were well used, the plot may have not been on the level of a James Patterson novel, but for a slash fan fiction story, it keep me going and I've been reading murder mysteries for years. It vaguely reminded of a young Nora Roberts (J.D. Robb) in the making. Plus, the man-on-man sex didn't hurt either.

I am going back to that site to see what else is there.

Well the link's working now, must of been an early morning geocities screw up. Sorry you didn't like the story, but I think I'll read it for myself. Might like it, might not, but someone liked it enough to rec it.

That said, one ficcer's favorite rec can sometimes end up on my blech! list. Glad there's enough variety out there for just about everyone.

I'd have to agree with you, the writing was awkward and the plot dragged itself along. I didn't care for the dialogue much either. Which was a shame, because the basic idea of it was solid and could have become a really enjoyable story.

What a wonderful story! Thank you so much. I love a good murder mystery, plus the added bonus of Mac/Methos...just perfect.
Thank you!
