Yeah, That One Last Thing, by Amand-r (not rated, maybe PG-13)
Fandom: HIGHLANDER
Pairing: None

Why this must be read: Darkfic is a staple of the Highlander fandom and no one does it quite like Amand-r. This is a disturbing, beautifully written and perfectly characterised story about friendship, Immortality and life. Amand-r manages to imbue the deceptively simple dialogue with layers of meaning that make it a hugely satisfying read, and heartbreakingly sad at the same time. And because it's Amand-r, it has moments of genuine humor mixed in with the darkness, so well that the darkness kind of creeps up on you without being obvious at all.
But be warned, I'm not kidding about the heartbreak.
But there were moments, like now, when whatever that ancient thing that had germinated and grown into Methos, the aged thing, was allowed to actually unfurl inside Adam Pierson's body, and the very air seemed to change with the switch of personas. It was this person who faced Joe now. He was still Methos, his buddy, in fact Methos was probably more of a friend than Adam had ever been, but it was almost too much to be contained by a human body. Joe's head ached with the mere presence of it.
He'd be glad to be rid of the headache, that was for damn sure.
