Why this must be read: Cassie is probably the most well known author in Harry Potter, and reading what is collectively know as 'The Draco Trilogy' upon entering the fandom has become a rite of passage. Draco Dormiens is the first in the trilogy. Subsequently, there has been debate as to whether the quality deserves such an idolized reputation, but whether it does or not, it's fixed as a fandom classic and that's not going to change.
That said, there is a reason why it's popular. It's a satisfying novel-length fic and hugely enjoyable to read. The plot features many elaborate storylines featuring romance, mistaken identities, 'Really Cunning Plans', evil bake sales, a love triangle and kisses galore, which gives us an excellent look into the complex minds of the characters, in particular Draco and Harry. The wonderful Snarky!Draco is my personal favorite. Plus it's fast paced, easy to read and Cassie is great at inserting sharp and funny one liners.
Just in case you're wondering, there is a lot of debate on whether the Trilogy is het or slash. It's gen more than anything, but squint in between the lines, you can read whichever pairing you prefer!
