The Maelstrom by Khaleesian (NC-17)
Fandom: Horatio Hornblower
Pairing: Archie/Bush
Why this must be read:
Because she made me read a story outside of my usual pairing (and even outside of the usual other pairings *G*). Khaleesian's stories are based on Forester's books first and A&E second, which opens up the available canon... and she kept Archie alive, which is always a good thing in my book. Rich with historical facts and rather hot interaction between Archie and William, I also love the interactions between the characters. There's a partners-in-crime factor that exists between Archie, Bush and Horatio in the A&E films, and that comes across in her story as well. A nice long(er) read, too.
