Pigs Might Fly by Crone (R)
Fandom: THE PROFESSIONALS
Pairing: Bodie/Doyle
Author on LJ: N/K
Author Website: N/K
Why this must be read:
I normally prefer stories with serious amounts of grit and pain. But occasionally I’m in the mood for something a bit less grim. Right about now, in fact.
This is a wonderful, sweet story, beautifully written. Not at all cloyingly sweet, more like one of the best lemon meringue pies you ever had, with just the right balance of tartness and sugar.
Did I mention food? This one’s quite a treat for the epicures amongst us.
“superannuated guttersnipe pose” (Bodie, thinking on Doyle)
“Preposterous to want to turn cartwheels across this palatial lounge. Idly, he wondered if his feet would hit the chandeliers.”
“The profusion of roses in the small garden grew dark and indistinct, but their fragrance rode the notes of a Scarlatti sonata to fill the vibrant darkness, sound and scent more vivid than the sunset-painted sky.”

This story is very sweet. Love how Doyle was going out of his way to be nice to Bodie and how the circumstances worked together to allow the Lads to stay in the posh digs.
