Form 1879 by Barb G (R)

Fandom: DUE SOUTH
Pairing: Benton Fraser / Ray Kowalski
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] troutkitty
Author Website: Barb G's Multi-FanPlex
Why this must be read:

Fraser has the luck of the habitually drunk when it comes to jumping off buildings and facing down criminals with no weapon. Fraser's luck has sometimes run out on the show, but usually when he is flying solo. Not this time. A cute, funny short story with a real kick at the end (I would give warnings, but it would reveal the ending. Just keep in mind that it could warrant warnings). Ray and Fraser are called onto the carpet to be interviewed about and justify a case gone wrong.
ETA I should never try to get a rec out before heading to work. Forgot to say that this is probably my favorite short piece of due South fiction so far because I like how Fraser and Kowalski snark at each other and how you don't understand fully what is going on until the very end because you are limited by Kowalski's POV.

"They were *arms dealers* Fraser! *Arms Dealers* Lots and lots of guns filled with bunches and bunches of bullets. Bullets that go bang? We were on vacation, Fraser. Vacation. I didn't need to be shot full of holes while on vacation."

"It was a judgement call, Ray."

"Your judgement sucked."
