Copkiller/Hopscotch/My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys by Terri White (PG)

I'm doing the gen trilogy by Terri White this week.

Fandom: STARSKY AND HUTCH
Pairing: Starsky and Hutch

Why this must be read: This is a very classic gen trilogy of zines written by Terri White.
It starts out with Copkiller. A man from Hutch's past comes back to town, but this is not going to be a happy reunion of old friends. The scenes switch between the impending doom and the casualness of everyday life, planning a vacation to Europe.

"Sure." Hutch began pulling unfinished reports from the drawer. There were a lot of them. "We could go see the Coliseum in Rome."

"Italian girls," Starsky said, letting the air move through his sweaty curls.

"The Eiffel Tower."

"French girls."

"Greek ruins."

"Greek girls." He straightened and looked at Hutch. "You know, that sounds pretty good."

"I want to see the museums," Hutch said firmly.

"Sure, sure. A great place to pick up girls."

Starsky's luck keeps going downhill, though. First he got shot, then he got a concussion, it might be better to lock him away somewhere so Hutch doesn't have to keep having heart attacks over his close calls. That goes double when someone starts executing cops. Victims start piling up and then Starsky goes missing. It's a tense situation as one partner searches for the other, hoping that Starsky doesn't become the next victim in the sick game.

In Hopscotch, we begin months after the Gunther shooting. Starsky's finally released to go back on the streets, but he's not quite ready yet. They need to get away and Hutch decides that driving up the coast will be the perfect trip. So, they set off...in a red VW Bug that Starksy is mortified to be in;)

The first fifteen minutes of their vacation passed in total silence. Starsky finally sighed a sigh of exquisite martyrdom. "If only it wasn't so . . . red," he said.

Hutch, stopped at a traffic signal, shot him a glance of total amazement. "I can't believe you just said that."

"Why not?"

"Because I picked this particular car because it was red. I figured you liked red cars, damnit. Your car—"

"My car," Starsky broke in gently, but firmly, "is candy apple red. This car is fire engine red."

But remember this is Starsky and Hutch. They can't have a normal vacation to save their lives and this is no exception. A car accident, a kidnapping, a murder charge, these boys have it all. It's going to take alot of time and energy to make their worlds right again.

In
My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys, we pick up immediately where Hopscotch left off. The doubts that Starsky had before are back with full force. He needs to quit and so does Hutch. So what do they do to earn money? Start up their own PI firm--Confidential Investigations, Unlimited. And they take on a missing person case for Dobey's old friend. A missing person that vaguely resembles Hutch in the description of his characteristics.

"I reckon you know your business." He opened the door, then stopped again "Oh—one thing about Andy maybe you better know."

"Yeah?" Hutch said, not really wanting to hear anything else that would make him like this case even less than he already did. "What?"

"He has a stutter."

"Stutter?"

"Yeah. It's pretty bad, especially if he's feeling nervous or something, you know?"

Hutch frowned. "Thought you said he wants to be a singer."

"He does." Monroe shrugged. "Don't happen when he sings. Just when he's talking."

This case takes them over the rodeo circuit and through some tough spots, but can they find the answer in time?
