Waylaid by Killa (adult)

Hi, I'm Rhi, and I'll be driving the Highlander Crack Van this month. I suppose I should say now that I've always had a thing for the more minor characters. Since there are clearly plenty of people happy to recommend good Duncan/Methos slash, my recs will mostly focus on the rest of the cast. Not entirely, though, knowing me. Other than that, I like het, slash, and gen, so everything goes. I hope you enjoy these. Even more, I hope you find some new stories to enjoy, or old favorites you'd forgotten.

Fandom: HIGHLANDER

Why this must be read: Because there's so little Connor slash, and so little of that set in the past. Because the story starts off with both a (literal) bang and some lethal misunderstandings, and then deals with the ramifications of both. Because it's got two gorgeous, sarcastic men trading snarky comments when they're not consoling each other about mistakes, past and present. And because the final paragraph makes me sit and smile every time I read it.

Connor wasn't sure, as he sat in Fielding's comfortable study sipping the best whiskey he'd tasted in an age, whether he liked Matthew Fielding in spite of, or because of, all the ways in which he reminded him of Duncan.

"You could, of course, simply disappear in the night if you're so inclined," Fielding was saying. "Problem is, you'll be leaving me with some tricky questions to answer if you do. Not to mention what'll happen if someone sees you."

"You might have saved yourself a lot of trouble, and gotten yourself a fine sword out of it."

"I might, at that. No more than you'd have deserved, riding down that road alone at night, I might add."

"You think so? I'd say getting shot was punishment enough, myself."

"I suppose I can't argue with that."

"Waylaid", by Killa. Don't forget to click the link to the visual aid she did for the story, either!

(Disclaimer: I encouraged this story, although I didn't beta it. However, that strikes me as more of a reason to recommend it, not less.)
