Reflections in a Stolen 'I' by Fialka (PG-13)
Fandom: FARSCAPE
Pairing: John/Aeryn
Author's webpage: Farscape fiction by Fialka
author on LJ:
fialka
Why this must be read:
By mid-season four of Farscape, a lot of people were scratching their heads. What the frell was up with Aeryn? What happened while she was with the commandos, and why was she being such a pod-person? "Reflections" (Fi says on her site) was "written in a burst of inspiration after 'Bringing Home the Beacon'" and before "Prayer," and speculates an answer to those questions.
It's told in first-person, from Aeryn's POV, and the language moves the way she does - tight, disciplined, straightforward, and always with a sense of the physical grounding it. It's the story of Aeryn coming back to Moya, and being very confused; John a hair's-breadth away from a psychotic break, D'Argo Moya's captain, and Scorpius on board. It's a painful story, of course - almost anything in S4 has to be - but it's a good story, and a little bit healing at the end.
