This story shows Bodie in his complete Doyle-protective mode.

Doyle is receiving obscene phone calls and it is beginning to wear him down. When Bodie finds out he insists that Doyle comes and stayes at Bodie's place until the stalker has been caught.

Doyle feels guilty that Bodie worries so much about him and Bodie feels jealous and protective.

When Bodie invites Doyle into his bed in the middle of another sleepless night, Doyle accepts gladly.

The ending has a nice little twist.

Not a very long story but certainly an enjoyable one!



Bodie picked up the receiver. He froze.
...You've got a lovely backside, Ray. Just perfect, made for a man's cock to --"

The sudden thought hit Bodie, stunning him. Doyle -- and another man? Impossible, his mind protested. Ray's not...and even if he was, I would be the one he'd choose. He's my partner...

"You're my partner," Bodie replied. "You're my responsibility. Get packing."

Doyle crawled in beside him, found himself pulled close, strong arms holding him the way he'd always dreamed. He wriggled a little till he was comfortable, pressing back against his partner's chest.

Haven't read this yet and not sure I will, as the concept of a man - especially a CI5 agent who surely can look after himself! - being so upset by obscene phonecalls that he has to be "protected" by someone who's all of 1,5 inches taller than him seems just ridiculous.

That's exactly how I see it. Doyle manipulates the entire scenario. And if Bodie harbors the slightest concept that Doyle is a "fragile-flower," well, then, Doyle takes advantage of that fact.

Thanks for recommending this. I suspected the identity of the caller, but not the twist in the tale until near the end. Yes, Doyle is a big hard CI5 man, but he also knows how to play his partner to get his own way. Bodie is protective of Ray and his experiences mean he doesn't always see things in black and white, but it was to his advantage this time. A nice sweet story with a happy ending for both men. Just right for a Sunday afternoon.

I haven't read this one in a long time and it's just as good the second time around. Thanks for bringing it back to my attention! I enjoy stories where Doyle takes advantage of Bodie in his "protection mode" and both get what they want most -- each other! Excellent rec!

I'd never read this, and I enjoyed it. I wonder if you might consider deleting some of the earlier comments - not because they don't happen to like the story, but simply to avoid spoilers for others?

I don't completely agree with Doyle's characterization, but I think the voices are well done. I look to this list to give me a variety of authors to explore - I know I won't love every one, but it still gives me a place to start. So thanks!
