Why this must be read:
I really see this as the companion piece to Letting Go. Mal's love-at-first-sight relationship to Serenity is well established in canon, but the two people who keep her in the sky, Kaylee and Wash, have their own special relationships with both the ship and the sky she flies through. This is Wash's first love.
