Declaring a Snow Day by MacNair (PG)

Fandom: HIGHLANDER

Why this must be read:

I know, I know, I’ve already recced MacNair, but this is the last one, I promise! This one is humor: Duncan feels that the two most important men in his life should be friends. Pity Methos and Connor don’t feel like it.

Connor’s weariness did not change his attitude towards Methos, however. The two of them were like stray cats stuck in the same alley. Connor was usually brusque with immortals he didn’t know or trust, and Methos seemed to enjoy being a burr—if for no other reason than to watch Duncan trying to keep the peace. This is like Kit and Amanda, without the sneezing! the younger Scot thought.

Methos turned on the ball game and his favorite team was playing. Connor laughed long and hard when they lost, changed channels to the NYC Opera, and turned the volume up. Duncan reminded himself to strangle Connor at the first opportunity as well.

When the elder Scot left the room for a moment, Methos put the station on MTV and shoved the remote control down in the wing chair cushions. An innocent inquiry as to the whereabouts of the bathroom sent him down a hallway with eight doors, none of which was the bathroom. He finally located one off another hallway and when he returned, the big screen TV had been unplugged and the cord was missing.

Lunch was fish. Methos hated fish. Well, to be exact, fish that was fixed by Connor. He shoved it around a lot on his plate and consumed all of the bread instead.

“Do you have any beer?” he asked, eyeing the Speyside Scotch on the table.

“Fresh out of beer,” rasped Connor.

It was more than slightly irritating to find a case of lager in Connor’s pantry when he went looking for some dessert and Methos said as much.
