His Terrible Swift Sword by Yahtzee (NC-17)
Fandom: X-MEN MOVIEVERSE
Pairings: Charles Xavier/Erik Lensherr (Xavier/Magneto); Marie/Bobby (Rogue/Iceman); Marie/Logan (Rogue/Wolverine); Bobby/St. John (Iceman/Pyro) UST
Author on LJ:
yahtzee63
Author Website: Yahtzee
Why this must be read:
This epic tale of love and betrayal and mutant politics spans more than 50 years, and Yahtzee takes us from the first meeting of Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr, before they become Professor X and Magneto, to their forces' final battle. There's a lot of time spent on exploring how and why the two mutant groups disagree on methods and goals, and the reader is left feeling sympathy for both sides (admittedly to differing degrees).
This novel-length story has both explicit m/m and m/f sex in a few chapters, but the overall tone is more action-drama than romance. (Part of me wants to characterize this as gen, depending whether the definition of gen permits sex.)
Anyway, whether you prefer gen, het, or slash, go read this fabulously satisfying tale of mutants at war.
