Why this must be read: Sometimes a story comes to you from a friend. This one amused blandine to no end, so I had to read it because she got me interested in PROS. And it amused me too. The boys find a list lying about and aren't quite sure what it means. This is a short humourous piece that pokes good-natured fun at the Alternate Universes (AU) we put characters into. The story's almost a work of meta because at times it seems like the characters are discussing the ideas as "characters" (if you follow me), and other time they're convinced the women in the typing pool have been up to no good. And the ubiquitous Murphy seems to know entirely too much about what's going on here. One final thing: I'm pretty sure that (almost) all the AUs on the list have been written by someone, and that's definitely food for thought! *g*


"Dunno," Doyle chuckled. "I get a fur coat in this one. Cat: Doyle turns into sleek black panther every full moon. Bodie: remains Bodie. Whatever that means."

"Utterly charming and with an extra-large tin of Whiskas at hand?" Bodie grinned, but then found himself staring. "But look at this. The last one."

"Heh," Doyle shook his head. "Elves: Bodie as big strong elf, Doyle as ethereal elf. Both with green tights (Bodie in slimmer mode, preferably)."

"Slimmer mode?" Bodie's eyes flew to his midriff. "Slimmer mode? What's that supposed to mean, eh?"

"Less spotted dick," Doyle said laconically, holding the piece of paper up to the light and squinting at it.

Aha! One I've actually read before. *grins* Makes me feel a little more "fan proper", if that makes sense.

Anyway, it really is fantastic. I was giggling all the way through when I realised what they were reading. Just imagining their expressions, reading the responses they had to each AU and the banter between them -- loved it.
