Why this must be read: This is a short little character piece set from the POV of Charlie's brother, Liam. It's Liam's reflections on what he thinks, and hopes, Charlie's last moments of life were like before the plane crashed. It's short and anything but sweet, and it is one blinding example of the ripple effect that the crash had on the other survivors, the ones who lost loved ones on the plane. This fic is hot off the presses and packs a powerful punch in a few paragraphs.themoononastick is the person who really got me interested in the character of Charlie Pace, and her view inside of Liam Pace is just as addictive.
He prays that Charlie was high when it happened. That he had enough heroin in his blood stream to soften the blow when it fell. Chemicals blocking Charlie’s understanding of events so that it seemed distant and unreal, bearable. He knows there is an irony in that prayer, in his wishing that Charlie was high, but he chooses to ignore it and just cling to the hope that the drugs made death easier for Charlie, made the pain disappear.
