Why this must be read:
And from Hippediva a powerful Day of the Dead tale suitable for Hallowe'en season. In fact, read her notes at the end for why Oct. 27 is the perfect day for this rec. *g*
El finds Sands and the kid where circumstances have forced them to stay.
God, I hate this country.
He wanted to believe that but knew it wasn’t really true. For some reason, Mexico had rolled out a welcome carpet this past year. Long used to the water and the native food---hell, tamales still made him ache a little under his chimera of bravado, stuffed with mother-memories and the emptiness that never left him---he barely used the walking stick. He knew his way around these streets quite well without sight.
There was never enough money, but that didn’t trouble him overmuch. Money was just another commodity, and easily obtained if one were as smart as Sheldon Jeffrey Sands.
