Why this must be read:
The city of Atlantis becomes a character in its own right in many stories in this fandom, but most writers make Sheppard her favorite. This story remembers that Beckett has the ATA gene, too. Atlantis co-opts him as its caretaker, and in growing into that role, he becomes more and more isolated from the rest of the Terran crew--until McKay and Sheppard refuse to let him remain alone.
