Why this must be read: In my reading, I've rarely come across a post-"Not Fade Away" fic that isn't either extremely happy or extremely depressing and "Things Imperfect" captures a balance of the two. These stories have the real and raw emotional quality that drew me to watching Angel in the first place. The story starts off with a Shanshu'd Angel telling Roger Wyndam-Pryce that Wesley is dead and progresses from there. Angel then goes to work for Roger and the Watchers Council. Eventually, we find out that Wesley is alive, thanks to Virginia's magical family, and comes back to England when Virginia dies with their daughter. This story explores Wesley's family and their perceptions and assumptions of Wesley and of Angel. The additions to the 'verse further explore the themes of family.
