Why this must be read:

Batman and Robin. Are they doing it? Pure family love, or something less innocent? Is Batman a creepy pederast, or a driven man unsuited to bringing up children? Canon, frankly, can support either interpretation. One of my favourite things is fic that allows the reader to bring their own interpretation. Azurine doesn't answer any of the above questions, but she shines a light into the parts of canon that it might be nicer to overlook

This is one of those stories that I don't want to like but have to since it's written so well. I want the two men together and in my sweet little world Dick isn't a kid when he and Bruce finally do. I guess you hit it on the head with it shining a light into the parts of canon it might be nicer to overlook.

I admit, in my personal view of canon, this isn't how it happened, but Azurine definitely isn't making any unsupported leaps. I'm glad it worked for you even though it isn't your thing. I hope you tell the author; she hasn't got much feedback for this fic, I think perhaps because it's such a difficult thing to read.

Strange coincidence: I just read this story, but not because of this rec. (Not that I wouldn't have read it on your rec, it's just that I saw musesfool's rec on unfitforsociety first.) It's such a brilliant fic, precisely because intepretation is entirely up to the reader. In this kind of fic, it's so important not to be ham-handed, but azurine's take on it is so finely calibrated that I was mesmerised.
