Why this must be read: As AUs go, this story is both a funny, bantery little slice of 'what if?' and a disturbing vision of 'there but for the grace of PJ'. Three thwarted actors find themselves mouthbreathing in animal costumes at Disneyland and making the best of it they can. It really is a small world after all.
"So. You up for some excitement after work?"
Billy straightens up so fast he almost falls over backwards. Dom is standing there grinning at him, in full Goofy costume - but for the head, which he carries against his hip.
"What sort of excitement?" Billy asks cautiously.
Elijah, now with the costume to match his voice, answers. "Dom's got the new Return of the King DVD, so we were gonna go round to his place and check that out." He puts his own costume's head down on the bench and comes over to help Billy, picking Pluto's arms up off the floor and threading them on one by one.
"Although that wanker Tobey Maguire completely arsed Frodo up," Dom says heatedly, tugging Pluto's shoulder into place. "Whoever cast him should be taken out and shot."
Elijah rolls his eyes. "Yes, thank you, Dom." He turns to Billy. "Dom takes his movies a little seriously, as you may have noticed. He's got a kickass setup, though; you gotta see it to believe it. Huge fuckin' screen, surround sound, everything."
"Also," Dom adds, without blinking an eyelid, "You may have noticed that we're both as gay as a couple of monkeys in a tree full of coconuts, so after the movie we're probably going to shag like the animals we are. You're welcome to join us for one or both, as the fancy takes you."
"Or neither," Elijah says. He walks around behind Billy and does Pluto's zip up in one long glide. "Up to you."
