Take This Sabbath Day by meadowlion (PG-13)
Fandom: SPORTS NIGHT
Pairing: Casey/Dan
Author on LJ:
meadowlion
Author Website: kff
Sports Night fandom, at least in my mind, comes in two distinct waves: the first came in the wake of the show's original run; the second, still ongoing, from reruns, overseas screenings, the DVD release, and word of mouth. Unfortunately and rather unfairly, most of the SN rec sites and listings date from the first wave, are vastly out of date, and take no account of latter-day writers. With the Trickster archive down – and it looks as though this time it's down for good – there's really no central resource for SN fans to archive or to find newer material (although
laylee's new
snarchive is doing its best to rectify this situation). It's my intention this month to rec some of the lesser-sung talents of the SN world, of which there are many.
Why this must be read: I'm starting with
meadowlion, a prolific and talented writer, but whose work I believe I've never seen recced anywhere. This won't go far to redress the balance, but at least it's a start. It was difficult to choose any single fic above another, but I’ve gone with this one: a sweet, straightforward, post-Quo Vadimus happy ending, of the sort the boys so richly deserve.
Take This Sabbath Day: In which Casey has an epiphany, and Dan becomes a very smart man.

I know we talked about this once or twice in other comment threads, but it's very cool that you're aiming to recognize less familiar authors. Kudos for that.
A couple of my stories have been recommended in personal journals, and I've been grateful each time. However, that makes me no less honored that you wanted to rec my fic here -- or anywhere, really -- and glad you liked that story enough to choose it. (It's probably my personal favorite of my Dan/Casey fics.) Again, thank you, Hilary. =D

I was actually enjoying your stuff on the late-lamented Trickster archive before I realised you were you, if you see what I mean (and when I went through your memories - doesn't that sound sinister? - to choose a fic, I found several I still hadn't realised were you, the self-harming Danny fic, just for one). I think this merely serves to prove how much attention I pay to life in general ...

I wouldn't have particularly expected anyone even to remember "the self-harming Danny fic," let alone for its association with me to come to mind as well.
Anyway, thanks again for the recommendation. I'm always happy to know you enjoyed my fic.
