crack_van | Any and Every by Zoicite (NC-17)

Hi, I'm Erilyn, and I'm driving the popslash van this month. One of my favourite aspects to popslash is crossovers that feature Nsync and Backstreet Boys, as I'm a fan of both groups. Double the groups, double the fun! Plus, there are some interesting parallels and differences between them that make for great dynamics. I want to highlight some BSB-centric crossovers and BSB stories this month (since they haven't been recommended as much), but this doesn't mean that there's not going to be lots of Nsync too. I read all pairings, and I hope to rec a good variety of stories.

hnix did a fabulous intro to BSB here, but I just thought I'd include a little update. Their new album, Never Gone, was released in June this year, and it's done pretty respectably, especially considering the 'boybands are so over' attitude they faced. Before that, there were a few appearances and performances in 2004, and a mini-tour to China, Japan and Mexico. In 2005, there was a club tour in the US, and loads of promo appearances and interviews for the album. This was followed by a larger tour across North America and Europe (and Asia and Australia early next year). What's been particularly wonderful is how much the Boys are enjoying it all. Their interactions with each other have been adorable, they've been very touchy-feely (aka all over each other), goofy and relaxed, and they really seem to be revelling in being back onstage together.

Why this must be read: Zoicite has been mentioned here a number of times for good reason - she's one of the best BSB writers around, and I couldn't not rec her again. One of her greatest strengths is how well she writes all the relationships between the Boys, not just the pairing(s) each story is focused on. The interactions between them all (and wives/bodyguards/friends who are in the stories too) are delightful and ring so true. Howie/Nick is one of my favourite pairings, and this also features a crossover pairing that you don't see often - Howie/Justin Timberlake. Set around now, it's a very sweet tale of relationships going wrong and being fixed again, and how badly two people can still misunderstand each other, despite knowing each other so well. Also, it's damn funny - I will never look at Justin's calves the same way again.

The party is bring (and take home) your own liquor and they manage to get Kevin drunk in a little over an hour. Nick loves Drunk Kevin. Drunk Kevin likes to hug more than anyone Nick has ever met. Drunk Kevin cries when AJ says a few nice things about him and Brian carries in a cake from the kitchen. Actually, Sober Kevin would have done the exact same thing with the crying and the cake, and really it's just the increase in hugs that rank Drunk Kevin so high on Nick's list.

They all (even Baylee, though Leighanne protests about teaching him manners) stick their fingers in the cake as soon as Kevin blows out the candles.

"Ew," Justin says, his face all contorted. Nick has no idea what Howie sees in him. They must slap a lot of make-up on his face in all those videos.
