And Then Some by Loch Ness (NC-17)
Fandom: HIGHLANDER
Pairing: Duncan/Methos
Author on LJ: None
Author Website: Welcome to Loch Ness
Why this must be read: Pearl Harbor Day seems appropriate for recommending one of the best AU's in Highlander fiction, an exciting adventure set during WW II. Actually, the story alternates between Europe during WWII and 1999 Seacouver. It's an alternate universe because it has Duncan and Methos meeting much earlier than in canon. If you begin this story, plan to stay up late because it's lenghty, complex and beautifully written.
"Can't see that there's much to laugh about." He told him about the leak in the water cask.
"Well," MacLeod said. "So much for prolonging the agony." He sighed. "Christ, if it weren't for bad luck, we'd have no luck at all. I'm almost sorry I jumped in after you."
Larrabee blinked, then narrowed his eyes again, balefully. "You weren't thrown off when the torpedoes hit?"
"No. You fell; I jumped. I did promise, after all."
"You're an idiot."
MacLeod blinked in surprise. He hadn't consciously meant to fish for gratitude, but he hadn't expected an insult, either. Still, Larrabee had a point--at the moment it was unclear whether he'd done the man a favor by saving him. "Possibly," MacLeod allowed. "What I know for sure is, if we both get out of this alive, you're by-God going to learn to swim!"
