No Big Deal by Dasha (Rated PG for Parts 1 & 2, Rated R for Part 3)

Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: Jim/Blair
Author on LJ: Not that I know of
Author Website: As far as I know, Dasha doesn’t have a website, but her Sentinel slash fic can be found at 852 Prospect and her gen Sentinel stories can be found at Cascade Library

Why this must be read:
No Big Deal is a huge, beautifully written retelling of the entire series from a slashy standpoint. The story is told from Jim’s point of view, and Dasha does a great job of threading canon events with Jim’s mixed feelings about being a Sentinel, as well as his growing feelings for Blair.

She also gives us plausible reasons for things on the show that didn’t make sense. Ever wonder why Jim wasn’t right there when Blair finally stepped safely off the elevator in Dead Drop? Well, now you’ll know.

Here’s a sample, taken from Part II, related to the episode The Girl Next Door:

I frantically searched Cascade and the outlying suburbs, tearing from one possible lead to another with Simon trailing nervously behind. In the moments in between leads, when there was no destination to race to, a kind of acid horror would rise up in me, reminding me that I had been having a great time with Simon and Joel while Blair was being kidnapped by his date and her armed companion. They could already have dumped his body. I knew how these things went down--

Then I would want to kill him myself. If he had had a measurable amount of common sense or self-preservation, I would have been at home asleep and not giving myself an ulcer worrying about him. But no. He never stopped to think. He was never careful. He was so anxious to get into the pants of a girl he fished out of a car trunk that he didn't even bother to ask her last name. He never bothered to stop and think about things like that. Apparently his dick was such an overwhelming force that he'd sleep with any gun-toting maniac in this city but me. Which I would probably find insulting if I spent any time thinking about it. In two years the most I'd ever inspired was a pleased, appraising look.

But I didn't have time. I might never have time to be annoyed by Sandburg again.

They could already have dumped the body somewhere.

I'm so glad you recommended Dasha. I'd never heard of her before, and last night as I succumbed to the flu (blech!) I read her story, "I Still Believe." I'll definitely read "No Big Deal" too, as she really is a terrific writer. Thanks again for rec'ing her. :)

Sorry to stray from the rec but can someone point me towards a place with nice Sentinal pictures/videos. It'll help me with visuals. Thanks.
