The Cultivated Mind by Mosca (PG-13)
Fandom: FARSCAPE
Pairing: gen - Pilot
Author on LJ:
mosca
Author Website: http://mosca.freeservers.com/fanfic/
Why this must be read:
Considering that Pilot was managed by no fewer than *four* oft-trampled puppeteers, and that his distinctive voice was a product of Lani Tupu's talent and the magic of ADR, it's a credit to everyone involved (and the vision of Jim Henson's Creature Shop) that such a gentle giant could become one of Farscape's most beloved characters.
Just as with the rest of the cast, however, Pilot didn't remain static for long. He quickly outgrew season 1's nervous uncertainty and youthful naivete; his experiences with Moya's crew, all-too-often as a helpless witness, left him no stranger to tragedy and the vagaries of fate.
The coolest thing about Pilot, though, was that every now and then he'd get a little wacky. (Usually he was possessed or under the influence of something, but I digress.) Like the others, he has his own dark secrets...
Mosca's fic takes place roundabout the end of Farscape's first season. To say anything more would ruin the tidbits of surprise that lay in store; so go, read, and if a little cackle escapes while you read - blame it on Pilot.
