Why this must be read:
Ah, Terra Firma, that S4 ep that spawned a thousand filler fics. Here is another one, but with an interesting twist.
Caroline. Caroline, the ex-girlfriend. Caroline, the frell-buddy. Caroline, the typical John Crichton-goes-for-Blonde. Caroline, who isn't Aeryn and yet fandom didn't freak out when she arrived. Caroline who was nothing more than a simple plot device by the writers but who Shunda fleshed out into a whole 3-D character with motivations, wants, and meanings. It's rare (especially in this fandom) to find a well-written fic about 'the other woman', so it was a treat to find this.
Excerpt:
Opting to meet his gaze head on, Caroline observes John from across the threshold. He looks unsure, like he's seconds away from bolting if she makes the wrong move or says the wrong thing. It gives her pause, because as much as Caroline wants to invite him in — go back to the time when he didn't ask for permission to fuck her and wasn't afraid to admit that he wanted to — she cannot make the decision for him.
She wants to, of course... but she won't.

Hey, it's me, FBF back behind the wheel. This month will be all about the new and different. That will encompass authors, characters, and formats. Things you might not have seen, or I might not have seen. *bg* There will also be some of my old favorites in here too. So, sit back, relax and grab yourself a cold one out of the cooler in the back of the van, cuz we're going on a little road trip to those off the beaten path places.
