In Gear by Kass Rachel (NC-17)

Why this must be read:
Since the first season episode "Mob Rules", where a grateful mobster presents House with a gorgeous 1965 Corvette as thanks for covering up the facts about his brother's illness, car porn is practically its own genre in this fandom. Among the plethora of car-related stories in various pairings that followed this episode, though, In Gear is my personal favourite.
Compared to other fandoms I read, a surprisingly small percentage of House slash comes with an adult rating. But Kass is one writer who always delivers the sex scenes, and in a wonderful way. Her stories are not only sizzlingly hot, but also true to the characters in every way, and she has the snarky dialogue down pat. Not least her Wilson-voice is perfect, which - as many of us have been surprised to discover when writing a story - is often a tougher feat to accomplish than getting House right. In Gear is a delightful story written in a tone that fits in perfectly with the car scenes on the show. If we'd got to follow House's and Wilson's car ride a little longer, surely this is what would have happened. ;)
